Gosh, between sorting out my work issues and personal feelings, I haven't been
updating this space for like 6 months! There's so much that has happened, I'll
attempt to write as much as possible.

Here's a story that you may have read before, but it's one that I re-visit now
and again just to remind myself - that there are so many times I take things
for granted and do awful things when I'm mad....

A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his shock, his
5-year old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the
truck! The man ran to his son, knocked him away, and hammered the
little boy's hands into pulp as punishment.

When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital. Although
the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he had no choice
but to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands.

When the boy woke up from the surgery and saw his bandaged stubs, he
innocently said "Daddy I'm sorry about your truck". Then he asked "But
when are my fingers going to grow back?"

The father went home and committed suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or when
you wish to vent your anger. Think first before you lose your patience,
especially with someone you love.

Trucks, and physical possessions, can be repaired. But broken bones and
hurt feelings can't. Too often we fail to recognise the differences between
the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is greater than
revenge. People make mistakes and can make amends. Unfortunately the
actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

Pause and ponder today. Think before you act. Be patient. Forgive and
forget.
